Will has received the following letter from Redcar and Cleveland Council in response to the report he sent last month with regards to residents' issues in the village.
Will said,
"Although not all of the roads which I brought up are in the upcoming maintenance schedule, residents will be pleased to hear that some action is being taken. I will continue to push to ensure that Skelton and its residents get a fair deal from our Council."
If you have any issues you would like Will to raise on your behalf, please complete the "your views" section on this website.
“Dear Mr. Goodhand,
I refer to your letter dated 27th June 2014.
The road surfacing programme for financial year 2013-14 was approved by cabinet in July. He programme included planned resurfacing works identified on Airy Hill Lane and also the pedestrian crossing upgrade at Skelton High Street. We have also secured additional funding which will allow us to carry out further works in 213-14 and we are currently finalising locations to be included.
A number of roads in Skelton have been assessed for possible inclusion on the 2014-15 programme which are detailed below.
Marlbrorough Road footpaths
Byland Way carriageway
Newlands Road carriageway
North Skelton Road carriageway.
There are still a number of areas to review and inclusion on the final programme will depend on the outcome of the condition assessment against other locations and also the amount of funding available.
Caution would need to be exercised when proposing to removes measures such as speed bumps. Any traffic calming measures in situ were installed for specific reasons, such as reducing vehicle speeds or to deter rat running. The removal of such measures may have a detrimental effect of road safety. The majority of traffic calming schemes in the Borough are implemented through our safe streets process which is a resident lead initiative.
Yours faithfully
K Mundy
Team Leader”
