Three key points:
KEEPING OUR COMMUNITIES & ROADS SAFE
MORE INVESTMENT IN OUR AREA FOR MORE OPPORTUNITY
PUSHING FORWARD WEST BROM’S REGENERATION
- Greenbelt
Will Goodhand is working to protect our Green Belt. While celebrating the fact that the green space at Wilderness Lane has been saved for now – Will is anxious at the prospect of a Labour government forcing building on the Green Belt. Will is championing building on brownfield sites first – and pushing for continued investment in building on local brownfield sites.
- Working to Stop the Decline in Local Bus Services
Will is committed to driving action on the quality of bus services, in light of lateness/missing buses, breakdowns and other issues regarding the service provided. Will will work with the Traffic Commissioner and the other relevant authorities to ensure that local bus services are reliable, arrive on time, and are well-driven with a high standard of polite service from the drivers.
Will is also listening to the needs of local people regarding new bus routes and will work with local leaders to expand the rapid transit network across the West Midlands.
Our buses are a lifeline - Will will work so they are up to the standard local people need and deserve.
- Will Goodhand is Ensuring Action On Speeding & Dangerous Driving
Will is determined to ensure the roads in our area are safe for all road users. Currently there are numerous speeding and accident hotspots which are not being addressed. Will will keep the pressure on Sandwell Council and West Midlands police to stop speeding and reduce accidents. This means activating speed cameras where they are currently known to be disabled (such as on the Newton Road), and acting on reports of dangerous hotspots (such as Oakham Road and Hamstead Road).
- Building On The £Millions Of Investment For West Bromwich Town Centre
Will will continue to champion our area to gain further investment – on top of the £20 million secured for West Bromwich from the Government’s Towns Fund, and Sandwell’s share of the £400 million secured through the Levelling Up partnership - ensuring we benefit from the £1.5bn won for the West Midlands.
- Clamping Down On Illegal Use Of Off-Road Bikes
Will is determined to clamp down on the nuisances which spoil life in our area - including the dangerous and noisy use of off-road motorbikes locally. Will is pressing Sandwell Council to install appropriate preventative measures and he is encouraging West Midlands Police to deploy their off-road bike team in our area, in conjunction with drones to track offenders and ensure they face consequences.
Will is determined to crack down on antisocial behaviour, starting with the illegal use of off-road bikes.
- Keep 'em weekly
Will will keep the Council to account over bin collections, fighting to maintain weekly bin collections and not allow them to slip to fortnightly. After nearly 20,000 missed bin collections between 2019 and 2021, Sandwell residents deserve better service, not worse. Will will keep up the pressure on this vital issue for health and sanitation.
