Will Goodhand has today written to Sandwell Council demanding action on local road safety.
“I just don’t understand how we have speed cameras which are not in operation – and which are known to be non-functioning, leading to people speeding and driving dangerously with impunity,” comments Will, “we all know of accident blackspots where there are not one or two crashes a month – more like one or two a week, or sometimes one or two in a day.”
“What is going on? I have written to Sandwell Council to find out. I’ve mentioned some blackspots that I have seen with my own eyes, including the Newton Road, Oakham Road, and Hamstead Road - but I invite residents to let me know of others using the Contact page on this site.”
“Can it really be true the cameras are off to save money? Saving lives must be the priority but if they catch the speeders who we’ve all seen weaving through the traffic, then surely the cameras will at least pay for themselves?” adds Will.
