I note that Labour's Leader and Deputy Leader of Redcar & Cleveland Council have been deselected. Residents constantly tell me their frustration that East Cleveland continues to be neglected, with many using the expression 'Redcar & Redcar Council'. I have been piling on the pressure for action from the Council. However, replacing the leaders with another set of Redcar-centric socialists will not deliver the 'fresh start' that even the local Labour MP admits is needed. Indeed, this deselection reveals local Labour's culture to be obsessed with doing each other down, not bettering our area.
We desperately need a true fresh start from an outward-looking team, devoted to taking our area higher, not bringing colleagues low. I am leading our local Conservatives from the front with my real world business experience, with a team of Council candidates active in the community, small businesses and voluntary work, with fresh energy and ideas.
Real-world experience is key: I am state comprehensive educated, while our Skelton Council candidates respectively are a retired RAF engineer turned supermarket delivery driver, and a working mum who is also heavily involved with Guisborough & East Cleveland Sea Cadets. Add our existing hard working Councillors and growing team of campaigners including an NHS dentist and an ex-ICI operative - people who will deliver for our area through dedication and an aversion to petty politicking.
Even our Labour MP admits it, a fresh start for our area is desperately needed. Voting Conservative is the only way to get it.
