Over 50 people from across Guisborough attended the first meeting of the Guisbrough Future Group at Sunnyfield house this week to discuss a future vision for the town. The group is made up of Guisborough small business owners and concerned residents who have been brought together by the would be MP for Middlesbrough South & East Cleveland Will Goodhand.
Representatives from The Guisborough Priory Project, the De Brus Way, Friends of Guisbrough Cemetery, Guisborough Town Pride and Guisborough in Bloom were all present and they added very useful contributions and insights.
Will Goodhand said
“It was great to see so many people come along and just goes to show the strength of feeling about the general state of Guisborough. Residents and businesses want to see real progress for the town. We covered a large range of topics including how to turn Guisborough into a tourism centre focussed on mountain biking and the Priory.”
There was a strong feeling at the meeting that more needed to be done to ensure that Guisborough was kept generally tidier than currently is the case so Will Goodhand is putting out a call to any and all residents who want to join the Guisborough Big Clean and help to regularly clear up parts of the town.

“I have noticed that people are less likely to throw litter when the place is tidy, so if we clean up the town we may encourage others to take more pride in the town and not drop litter”.
